MHNR logo 2The scientific committee for the International Mental Health Nursing Research Conference 2017 met in Liverpool on May 17th, with the task of considering all abstracts received and all nominations to deliver the MHNAUK Lecture.

The conference is an annual event organised by MHNAUK and the Royal College of Nursing. The committee would like to record its thanks to all who submitted abstracts and ideas, the standard of which was exceptionally high. Emails delivering the outcome of the committee’s deliberations will be arriving in inboxes over the coming weeks. MHNAUK and the #MHNR2017 committee now look forward to welcoming speakers and delegates to a vibrant two days on September 14th-15th, organised around the themes imagination, invention and inquiry.

Today MHNAUK and the #MHNR2017 committee are delighted to announce two Mental Health Nurse Academics UK Lecturers for our 2017 conference: Dr Michael Coffey from Swansea University and Professor Paul French from Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Liverpool University. Each will deliver a keynote paper, with Michael talking to the topic of Risk, discourse and identity work: how mental health nurses can do something to help and Paul on Promoting recovery: the art and the science of research in psychosis.

We congratulate Paul and Michael on their contributions to the promotion and enhancement of mental health nursing, and look forward to welcoming them to Cardiff in the Autumn.
