MHNAUK meets virtually

cropped-mhnauk-icon.jpgOver 70 MHNAUK members, associates and guests convened online on June 12th for an extraordinary Spring 2020 meeting.

Professor Mark Radford, Chief Nurse with Health Education England and Deputy Chief Nursing Officer of England, was welcomed as a first guest and gave a detailed account of leading the nursing response to the COVID-19 crisis. Emma Wadey, Head of Mental Health Nursing at NHS England and NHS Improvement spoke about her first few months in post and her ambitions to work with others to put mental health nursing on a firmer footing. Ellie Gordon, Senior Nurse, Learning Disability and Mental Health National Nursing Programme with Health Education England, updated colleagues on the development of an All England Plan for Mental Health Nursing.

In other items, colleagues shared updates on COVID-related research, #mhTV, #MHNR2020 and the 2020 Skellern Lecture and JPMHN Lifetime Achievement Award, and the plan to conduct a survey of mental health nurse academics to investigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
